countdown

i have 3 more training weekends before the 3 Day Walk arrives. last weekend, i walked 18 miles saturday and 15 miles sunday, armed with salt pills and gatorade and cliff bars and songs in my head. i've been doing most of my training on my hiking paths, which i think is giving me a bit of an advantage with the walk itself. i'm only just realizing that i was supposed to be doing my big walks on flat-ish trails! i just want to finish, just want to finish.....

walking for 6 hours at a time gives one time to ponder life, talk to ancestors, make lists, exorcise demons. i've enjoyed watching mother nature make her changes from winter to spring and into summer - i used to do that as a kid when we lived in the country. i'll be continuing my hikes after the 3 Day, definitely. nature child, that's me.

pup is doing well, although neighborhood change is bugging her. the house next door to me is moving out, and the house across the alley is moving in, plus construction about a block away, and change is evil. a mg of pred and she's fine, but she's up all night barking at this stuff and i'm losing sleep. things will settle down soon. and i'm hoping for good neighbors!

this time of year makes me wish i were a teacher so i could have summers off and enjoy it more, be out in it, get a tan, go swimming, make a beautiful garden. 8 to 5 is giving me a house and a healthy pup, but a real vacation would do me some good, i think.

after the walk, i will do just that. a real vacation. now, what to do?...

wow! no wonder youhave not been here much!

i cannot imagine a walk like that.. I admire you completely!

you amaze me!

my daughter is doing a half marathon in November.. and she amazes me too!

Glad to hear all is mostly well with the pup.. mine too.. I am finally getting more comfortable with giving the DOCP at home.. and it is so much nicer knowing that I have it in my hands.. you know? i always try to stay one vial ahead.

Dunkers and i were sitting on the front porch last week and two laabs came racing up the streeet and right at us.. I was terrified for him.. but, all is well.. i got him in the house and went and told the labs owners that letting your dogs run is not a good thing..

best of luck and wishes for good fun, good friends, good food and a peaceful heart on your walk.. and no aches or pains during or after!
