snow power
lots of snow this past week! finally got out for a walk, and pup was thrilled. i actually wore out one of my snow shovels, making my paths around the house. we've got about 2 feet, with drifts going even higher. sure is pretty.
pup's check-up went very well, but they do stress her out. she had a blood and urine draw, to check her values and kidney function, and she looks good. they think she may have a bladder infection, but she has no symptoms. previously she's tested positive on the urinalysis, but negative on the culture - i think that may happen again - i should find out for sure on monday. but the vet passed muster - pup didn't dislike her, anyway.
another birthday looms large for me. i've never really worried about getting older; in fact, i welcome it. but there are times i notice wrinkles or darker circles under my eyes, or that i take longer to heal physically than i used to. and i fear that it might count against me in some capacity. there is power in youth, sometimes undeserved, sometimes appropriate, but power nonetheless. to keep the power, that's the secret, isn't it?
back when i was an actor on a more regular basis (it's been over 5 years since i've been on the stage), i knew that age would mean better roles. since i have pup, i can't do any theater, but i'll go back to it someday. and i'll have so many more interesting characters to go for - that's a power trip right there, doing stagework, getting a whole audience to laugh so hard you have to hold for a few minutes while they recover. or taking them to the edge of their seats, so quiet that you can hear a pin drop. 'sfun.
in the meantime, there's lots of snow out there - and mama nature's got the big power, baby!
