pu in the park

what a lovely evening we had! went to the park, picnic-ed with m, who gathered a great feast for us, and puppy was the star, as usual. so many people coming up to scritch her. Lots of kids, too - they love her, and she them. we walked a bit, then listened to a couple of great groups. well, one was a single, but lovely music, floating on the cool breeze. a really lovely, romantic evening.

i've not been able to give pup much socialization, so this type of evening is wonderful for her. her immune system was so compromised for the first couple of years, my vet discouraged taking her to parks and having interaction with too many dogs. finally, she's in great shape, so these outings are going to be more common. plus i have a new bigger auto to tow her around.

i'm hoping we'll be regulars eventually. i've never been a regular anywhere, so maybe pup will get me there.

i have been having the same issues with socialization...Especially, when you consider the foster I took in for the sanctuary where I found duncan.

She attacked him every time he turned around. The sancutuary would not take the foster... it was a nightmare.
This was before he was dx, and part of what made him crash, I think? That and the fireworks.....

Since Then, a small black dog that was walking when we were ... with his owner... went after Duncan during a "meet and greet" and I was later to see this guy and the dog often, and he had no control over the mean little critter... none at all..

Last summer two large dogs ran up onto my front porch where Duncan and I were sitting... and it turned into a scuffle....duncan was tied.......

Thre are many dogs allowed to run in this neighborhood.. way too many.. and I swear the all find their way here...

On july 4 this year... he and I were attacked while taking our walk..a small terrier cocker maybe? mix flew out of his back yeard and came after us...
I posted on my blog about it...

He is doing great... I brought him ome and gave him pred..

Due to all of this ... I started classes to get him socialized. They are private... just Dunkie, me and the trainer ( she is wonderful) dog Tribe.

Our first class wa july 3

To be honest, I am now the biggest problem, as I am nervous around other people and dogs with him.
any advice for me?

It is two years since his dx.. he is doing great in all other ways...
he loves our new kitten!
